Hello, hello — welcome to The Back Room.
This is the behind-the-scenes, early-release, loose-thoughts-on-life-and-gaming space for subscribers. A little side door into the creative jungle. Appreciate you sliding back here with me. Glad you're here.
Well... I was going to kick this series off over the next weekend or so. You know, a little something for subscribers, behind-the-scenes posts, early releases, maybe throw in some off-gaming topics like politics, sex, my golf game life, emo kids 🤷🏾♂️ In so much as it impacts how I game, how I create…or don’t.
Delta Airlines, however, had other plans.
I was supposed to be flying to New York this weekend to celebrate a good friend's birthday—they're officially joining the 50 Society. In fact, as I edit this, I should be partying it up RIGHT NOW! The plan was: smooth Uber ride to the airport, easy hop to Detroit, 35-minute layover on to NY, clink glasses by evening.
Instead, as we're cruising toward the KC airport, Delta hits me with a text:
"Flight delayed from 10:20 to 11:00. Oh, and you’ll miss your connecting flight."
At the Delta desk (no complaints to the agents—they put in work, but they don't make the schedules), it was the same grim song:
Go to Detroit.
Try to catch a standby.
Maybe—maybe—I make it to New York by midnight. Somebody’s gotta come pick me up.
Everything else? Saturday arrivals are too late to make the celebrations.
Thanks, Obama.
So... Happy Birthday, Judd. Even though I couldn't make the party, I’m looking forward to catching up IRL soon.
