Good Monday, adventurers,
Well, mostly, I'm getting over some nasty crud from the weekend and I wasn't even at GenCon! My money says it's band camp crud.
I started playing Conan 2D20 last week with a group of folks from the IGRC Slack. We're curious about the play experience, and we committed to about four sessions to get a feel for it. I rolled everything random and ended up with an Asgardian Merchant-Mercenary, who likes to parade around wearing as little as possible! We spent most of the session creating characters and getting on the same page about time, tone, and adventure.
I started watching The Periphery, and I think I'm just getting older and crankier. It's too soon for me to have real complaints about the show; I'm only one episode in, yet I find myself thinking I should just read the book. It'll go way faster.
My friend Ramanan and inspiration for the Mad Jay Awards, has posted The Ramanan Sivaranjan Awards for Excellence in Gaming 2023 - Stay Pepsi my friend!! 💪🏾
I see The Marvel Multiverse RPG hit the racks! It's on my list to pick up and get to the table. You know I love RPGs. Supers hits that sweet spot for me. Villains & Vigilantes 1E, Champions, Champions Now, Wild Talents, The Spectaculars, the forgotten MURPG - and of course, Marvel Heroic RPG. These all contribute something slightly different to the gaming part of the Supers RPG, IMO. I'm interested in what The Multiverse RPG brings to the table.
Free League is about to hit another one out of the park with MORIA! The long Dark. An epic campaign that I know I'll be running as soon as it’s available. The One Ring is an engaging experience, and I don’t play it enough! We've also been trying to take PCs into Moria for decades! I'm curious to see what a campaign into the depths of Khazad-dûm looks like.
Being sick, I did get a lot of Lifted grunt work done around pregens and prep for the first round of Lifted backer games. I made an X-Man fan hack of Apocalypse World: Burned Over called the exorcists. I felt like I couldn't reuse that team here. My only worry now is what name do I use when Dave Grohl’s folks come a-calling! Foo Hunters, Foo Warriors, and Foo Factor - are ohhkaaay. They just don’t hit like Foo Fighters.
Send bail money!
Though foo fighter initially described a type of UFO reported and named by the U.S. 415th Night Fighter Squadron, the term was also commonly used to mean any UFO sighting from that period.[1] Formally reported from November 1944 onwards, foo fighters were presumed by witnesses to be secret weapons employed by the enemy.
