Good Monday, Gamer!
We missed the first Mothership session because, well, kids and their meetups! I’ve been noodling around with a sci-fi setting that I've been cooking on for a long time now and was looking for the right system to slot it into. Mothership is up first, but I might take a cue from my buddy Rich Rogers and run it in a few different systems to see how it plays.
Welcome to the KBA. 🛰️
The setting? The Kuiper Belt Anomaly—a series of massive, non-human structures discovered in parts of the Kuiper Belt. The Kuiper Belt Authority (KBA) is a joint operation between the breakaway Mars colonies, Luna, Luna South, and the old Earth nations. The KBA operates a space station right on the edge of the Kuiper Belt—the last outpost of humanity before diving into the high strangeness of the anomalies working of your debt, punk! Session one is lined up for tonight—right after dinner and before homework! …cause highschool homework lasts all night!
Ok, so Dolmenwood is definitely happening tonight also. Tonight, it's character creation time! Judd and I had a good laugh about our big plans for characters, only to remember... we still gotta roll those ability dice first—dice willing, I’ll be a wizard! I hung out with Neil and Judd (other players in Dave's Dolmenwood game) over Zoom for a solid 90 minutes of nerdy chat last week, which was just what the cleric ordered!
Prepping for The One Ring's Moria
Later this month, I'll be running The One Ring with the new Moria expansion—West Marches style. I’m deep in prep mode, thinking about all the IRL props and handouts. Maps, face cards, and MINIS galore! I'm still on the hunt for the perfect dwarf adventurer minis, but I think I struck Mithril on Etsy—pretty stoked about that find, and it makes me wonder…do I need a 3D printer?!
I’ve also rolled up a dwarf for some solo mode Moria adventures—there’s a dedicated solo mode section in the Moria expansion that I’m eager to dive into, complete with your expedition crew, homebase and missions! I’m fascinated by mechanics for exploring massively scaled locations; Moria doesn’t disappoint with an approach to gaming, discovering, and exploring these mines, an outstanding balance between at-scale foot-by-foot and ludicrous abstraction. APs on the horizon!

Having owned a resin printer for about a week, I can confidently say they are like pools or boats. You want a _friend_ with one.
