Good Monday, Gamer!
Alright, folks, it’s been a by-week, and I’ve filled it with some serious solo gaming. I dusted off Marvel Champions, Crossfire (brutally hard, by the way), and Netrunner. Why? Because if FFG won’t make a deckbuilder Netrunner-ish video game, then damn it, I’m going to give it a shot myself!
Solo Gaming Madness
Marvel Champions: I tackled some solo scenarios and got my superhero fix in! Shadowrun Crossfire: This game doesn’t pull punches. It’s tough as nails and I love it. Netrunner is still the best cyberpunk card game out there. I’ll never sell my cards!! I’m channeling all this into my game dev project #2: Zero Day Bandits. Wish me luck!
GM Prep Time: Miseries & Misfortunes
I've carved out some GM prep time for the next Miseries & Misfortunes session, where things are about to get seriously Occult Weird. Picture this: haunted crypts, forbidden rituals, and a touch of eldritch horror. The players won't know what hit them…unless they’re reading this.
Dark Tower Dreams
I’m also drafting thoughts about the Return to Dark Tower world for some Burning Wheel action here at home. We’ll have a BW version of the Orphan Scion and an Elf character on a quest for Azkol's treasures. Think ruined citadels, a Brigand King, and the efreet Azkol. Maybe even throw in Ashstrider for good measure! We’ll use the board game and expansions for source material as we play to find out.
The Black Sword Hack
I’ve started reading The Black Sword Hack, inspired by an actual play thread in the IGRC Slack. This thing is metal as hell, and I’m all in. Also learned about The Last Caravan and discovered that cars & aliens are a thing. And I gotta get this to the table now, too.🤷🏾♂️
Invisible Sun
I've dusted off Invisible Sun Big Black Box and turned my attention to running it online. This game is a beast, but the surreal world-building and deep narrative still living rent-free in my head—the one character I made and never played screams and bangs on the walls of his flat.
Supacell on Netflix
Finally, I’ve been watching Supacell. I’m two episodes in and hooked. Ordinary North Londoners with extraordinary powers? Yes, please. I think I’m in it for the whole series —and that’s saying something!
