Good Monday, Gamer!
I had BIG plans this weekend, all derailed by my first toothache ever. It started Thursday evening, a back tooth very sensitive. By Saturday, I'm slamming Motrin like ... I.C.E on a decker. This morning, I'm all 5x5 again. A dentist visit is scheduled for tomorrow. Girls and boys, don't get old.
I've watched some episodes of Ashoka, The Force Awakens, and "What if..Grievous Lived" on YouTube as prep for session 3 of my Edge of the Empire game, The ORB. Weβre working part two of our extraction job on a derelict Nebulon B frigate. I love the EotE custom dice. I never know how it's gonna go. If you don't know, each roll produces a 3-axis result. Success-failure, advantages and threats, Triumph and Despair (crit hits/misses). I lean hard on these dice and read them like tea leaves! Even in my prep I can get away with a line about agenda or motivation: Bad R2 unit hacks the frigate systems to help/harm. And let the dice do the rest.
I've been looking at Foundry VTT plugins across my games online. Things that improve the game "workflow" and add to how I run games. I'm fine if everything isn't automated or you can't build your character in the VTT. In fact, I'd rather it didn't do all those things. Anyway, before I start cranting... here's what I'm digging.
Yendorβs SceneActor does avatar pop-ups, which is very useful! I use it for social scenes, recaps, and interstitials. Itβs good to see WHO weβre talking about.
The Clipboard Image plugin makes importing images for map tiles as easy as cutting & pasting. I used it this past weekend to drop in floor tiles for a space frigate on the fly.
Both of these are great. I like a digital equivalent (or close) of what Iβd do at a table. IRL, Iβd use an NPC deck of βfacesβ and draw the map live βwhich is faster than drawing in the VTT, or Iβd have stock map tiles to drop on the table.
I also dug out Zombie World. I'll run this for my local monthly RPG meetup event. H/T Paul Beakley of the Indie Game Reading Club is currently running it and offered up some very useful advice for getting it going. I believe I'm going with the Farm setting!
Coming soon to The ORB:
Those Foundry mods look fantastic! I've been trying to build a library of cool plugins for my friends and I's live play series. Thanks for sharing!
