Good Monday Gamer,
Spooky, strange Sundays! I played Classic Traveller on Twitch.tv/actualplay with Judd (Day Dreaming About Dragons), Misha B (Black Girl Gameworks), and Jeremiah. Judd's using Gradient Descent from Mothership for the capital ship we're exploring..and it has been nothing but HIGH strangeness since we set foot on the thing! Happy Halloween!!
Marching band competitions ate up most of the family game time last week. My son plays 5th bass for the high school, and they finished 3rd for the season. He was pretty stoked about that! He's been playing a lot of 40K Dark Tide on the Xbox, which made me think of that old Inquisitor RPG game. TIL about Inq28. A movement about playing Inquisitor games at 28mm scale instead of the 54mm the original game limited models came in!
I'm reading Alien RPG's Building Better Worlds. Focused on the Alien lore and RPG, it's a good sourcebook for building your campaign playground set in the Alien universe. It even has a sidebar on West Marches; that tickled me! Factions, worlds near and far, non-marine options, and DIY chapters. It's like Stars without Numbers for Alien. This I’d like to get to the table! Excellent work Free League!
Project: Wizard Time! is renamed The Last Age of Sorcery... or Sorcerers of Atlantis! I'm torn!! I'm refactoring all the "make it work" code. I have a serviceable turn-based prototype to play with. It does the basics, moves and animates sprites, and manages player and NPC turns. I've been using Canva to mock up screens to get stuff out of my head. I ran across GDC talk
about using TTRPG mechanics in video games, with a shout-out to John Harper and Blades in the Dark! Warning: there is a magnitude of smug-snark in this video...you'll take stress! I am happy to see folks looking at TTRPGs for video game inspiration.
See you next week!
